in which our plucky heroine wishes everyone a very delightful first of May...
I realise that this is their last years Beltane dance, but it seemed like a most appropriate video for today...
Decorative stenciled hemline trim for a pair of loose cropped pants, to be worn under my dresses/pinafores as an additional layer for warmth. A thrifted cotton knit sheet was manufactured so off grain as to be almost unusable, so once I aligned the grain there was just barely enough fabric to make this project. This is the next-to-last of my Sewing With A Plan garments for the online challenge that ends May 7th...
...put in a little time last night (while winding down) doing some hand stitching, attaching the stenciled trim to hemline edges. The width of the trim bands and that they are applied with the "curl" of the fabric opposite that of the base material helps stabilise the cotton jersey fabric so it lies flat.
I just love my new mini drill press! It is about as big as a small hand-held kitchen mixer, and was suprisingly inexpensive (much less than an actual kitchen mixer)... but it makes the task of drilling holes for rivets in non-ferrous metal eversomuch easier. Tool girl is happy.
I am hoping to, as and if work commissions start happening more often, to use some of the income generated to upgrade my tools, and to refurbish parts of the workroom that have been only cobbled together over the years.
April was a very productive month, and my goals of at least five line items in each category were substantially exceeded...
Now that the big hump of taxes is done for another year, hopefully May will be equally productive, and there will be further decluttering, consolidation and organising of the steading here, and more than a smattering of creative projects
May SMART goals (x=extra)
